Feeling especially anxious lately? Rest assured, you aren't alone. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, anxiety is the most common psychological disorder, affecting 40 million adults in the United States each year. Although you can't necessarily prevent stress-inducing thoughts from popping into your head, you can learn to change the way you react to them. In fact, one of the best ways to keep anxiety at bay is to incorporate meditation for anxiety into your self-care routine.

So, next time you step off your Bike or Tread, try turning to one of Peloton's meditations to calm your mind. There are dozens of classes available on Peloton Digital, covering everything from courage to healing to relaxation. We turned to the experts (our community members!) to weigh in on the top 7 ways that our meditations have helped ease their anxiety during tough times. Here's what they had to say.

Embrace the Solitude

Sometimes it feels next to impossible to quiet your mind. But meditation can be a total game-changer. “I love the meditation classes,” says Rachel K. “I’m a fan anyway but, as a healthcare worker and all this uncertainty going on, I appreciate the little moments I get to myself!”

Meditate Anywhere, Anytime

It isn't always easy to carve an hour out of your day for a therapy session. But you can practice our on-demand meditations anywhere, anytime. “I just got my bike last week and I have fallen in love with the meditations already,” says Rachel K. “I have anxiety and it helps me refocus. Plus, my job is stressful so it’s nice to do for five minutes when I park and before I walk in.”

Bond With Your Kids

Whether you're raising toddlers, tweens or teenagers, parenting is hard work. To help ease the anxiety that comes along with raising good human beings, try meditating as a family with Peloton's new family meditation series. “I love the meditations,” says Kendall L. “My ten-year-old loves them. I even listen to the commute or basic ones while I’m driving into work to calm me down in traffic. I never ever could get myself to meditate before but they put me and my daughter to sleep almost every night.”

Get a Better Night's Sleep

Having trouble falling and staying asleep? If you're looking for an effective way to relieve stress. why not give the Peloton sleep program a try? “I was skeptical at first because I have never meditated or really knew how,” says Jaclyn D. “I can say I’m a believer now. I love it! I’m a 12-hour night shift worker and it helps me so much, especially on nights I have to switch back to a normal time. It helps me unwind and fall asleep so much faster and I have slept so much better!”

Find Your Inner Strength

If you've ever received bad news, you know how hard it can be to stay strong under duress. Luckily, a regular meditation practice can help cultivate the inner strength you need to move forward when you're faced with tough times. “Anna Greenberg is single-handedly getting me through the [COVID-19] pandemic,” says Adam R. “I love her so much.”

Channel Your Inner Bliss

Always take time to count your blessings, even during turbulent times when you're feeling especially stressed out. “Just took the Gratitude Meditation with everyone else and this time the difficulty scale had a whole different meaning,” says April F. “It was emotionally difficult with all the current events going on, but to see everyone come together and take ten minutes out of their day to show some gratitude, it was beautiful.”

Heal from Within

Sometimes simply recognizing your anxiety, then working through difficult emotions can help you heal faster. And it can give you a sense of accomplishment when you have no control over whatever circumstances are causing your anxiety. “Just hit my century milestone for meditation,” says Alexis B. “Meditating every day has changed my entire life and I could not have done it without Peloton!”
